Garden Design

“CREATED HAND IN HAND WITH NATURE”

The home of English Garden Grown is a three-acre garden in Salisbury, Connecticut. Started from a blank canvas in the spring of 2013, my goal was to create a garden both formal and wild, connecting back to my English childhood, and in particular the gardens of my mother and grandmothers where the ability to gather armfuls of flowers and produce in celebration of each season was a given.

By harnessing Nature’s versatility, incorporating green structure and balancing space with floral exuberance, the focus was to create four continuous seasons of interest. From the earliest spring bulbs through summer’s bounty, autumn’s finale and a barn full of deep-winter forced bulbs, the garden provides twelve months of “Outside In” natural beauty.

Putting down the roots of a garden that will continue to flourish after our tenure has come to a close has been the driving force behind all that we have done and continue to do here. We follow the best practices of regenerative gardening, focusing on soil health and plant diversity, growing all of our flowers without the use of chemicals.

My desire to share the joys and significance of seasonal gardening and flower growing now extends to offering hands-on design, advice and guidance to those seeking to transform their own garden space into a bountiful flower-filled, nature-rich haven.

The Garden is open to the public via The Garden Conservancy’s Open Days program and by private invitation through a select number of charities, garden groups and tours.
